What To Pack For A Virgin Cruise
No Contessa
While other premium cruise lines show glossy images of couples and guests dressed as though they’re off to a James Bond themed casino night, Virgin Voyages has a much more chilled out vibe when it comes to the dress code.
As a result, guests or sailors, as Virgin Voyages like to call us, can showcase our own personality at dinner with a trendy pair of sneakers and a coordinating top or shirt.
Gone with the Wind
There’s no traditional formal night, instead there is the Touch of Scarlet night where all the ship is bathed in an electric crimson glow, and you’re encouraged to add a stunning Scarlet flavour to your outfit, but be warned, if you head out of your stateroom or suite in head to foot red, other sailors are going to think you are crew! So best keep your touching of scarlet to a tickle, otherwise you may have someone ask for the quickest route to The Test Kitchen or Galley.

“Keep It Red”
Fit for the 50s
The swimming pools on board Scarlet Lady are now legendary, but not for their length or depth. Instead think of the main pool as a place to take a dip and cool off. As a result, when it comes to packing your swimwear and cover-up, imagine you’re a wide eyed Hollywood Starlet hoping to be discovered while paddling in the sparkling waters.
Remember the pool is not built for laps, so there’s no need to pack a sports swimsuit, however if you’ve got the confidence to pull them off (not literally), Olympic level budgie smugglers would not look out of place, as long as you’ve got a cocktail in hand.
It’s all in the Jeans
During the day wear whatever makes you feel comfortable, as it’s not the case that everyone is dressed for the golf or country club. Instead, we saw sailors chilling out whatever took their fancy, uber stylish, or ultra comfy. All with their own sense of style and fun.
It was actually quite refreshing
So there you have it, on a Virgin Voyages cruise there’s no Contessa or Ambassador cosplay required - you can just do you, but with a lovely touch of Scarlet.
