<image:title>Blog - The Great Cruise Dress Code Debate: Is Formal Wear Sinking? - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>The Case for Keeping it Formal Let's be honest, there's a certain romance to the idea of a formal night. It harks back to the golden age of ocean travel, a time of elegance and glamour. For many, dressing to the nines is a fun way to mark a special occasion and create lasting memories. It adds a sense of occasion to the evening, transforming a simple dinner into a real event. There's nothing quite like sipping a pre-dinner cocktail in a sophisticated lounge, surrounded by fellow passengers in their finest attire.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - The Great Cruise Dress Code Debate: Is Formal Wear Sinking? - The Argument for a More Casual Cruise</image:title>
<image:caption>On the other hand, the practicalities of formal wear can be a real drag. Lugging a heavy suit or a delicate evening gown on a plane, only to wear it for a few hours, can feel like a lot of effort for little reward. And let's not forget the expense – investing in formal wear that you might only wear a handful of times can be a significant outlay. For many, a cruise is all about escaping the daily grind, and that includes the pressure to dress up. The freedom to relax and be comfortable is a top priority, and a strict dress code can feel at odds with the laid-back holiday vibe.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - The Great Cruise Dress Code Debate: Is Formal Wear Sinking? - The Future of Cruise Ship Style So, what does the future hold for cruise ship fashion? It seems likely that we'll see a move towards more choice and flexibility. Some luxury cruise lines will undoubtedly continue to cater to those who enjoy the tradition of formal nights, making it a key part of their brand identity. However, many cruise lines are already embracing a more modern approach, with "evening chic" or "resort casual" dress codes becoming the norm. Themed nights are also on the rise, offering a fun and creative alternative to the traditional formal night. Think "white hot" parties, 80s-themed discos, and Caribbean-inspired beach parties. These events allow passengers to get creative with their outfits without the pressure of conforming to a strict dress code.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - The Great Cruise Dress Code Debate: Is Formal Wear Sinking? - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>The Verdict? It's Your Holiday, Your Rules! Ultimately, the choice of what to wear on a cruise is a personal one. Whether you're a fan of formal nights or prefer a more relaxed approach, the most important thing is to feel comfortable and enjoy your holiday. The good news is that with so many different cruise lines and itineraries to choose from, there's a cruise out there to suit every style. So, whether you're planning to pack your tiara or your flip-flops, you're sure to have an amazing time.er it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.</image:caption>

Catherine) we celebrated with a cruise onboard Virgin’s shiny new ship, Resilient Lady. Therefore, it should come as no surprise, when Virgin Voyages announced Resilient Lady would be sailing out of Portsmouth, in 2024, we knew we had to book and put our lovely travel agents on standby.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Spookily, the announcement was made a couple of days before one of our cocktail fuelled Q&A live streams, so we were understandably asked if we would be booking Resilient Lady out of Portsmouth and we said ABSOLUTELY! During the broadcast, it soon become clear our lovely cruise community also fancied joining us on Virgin Voyages (or in Pam & Andrew’s case recreating our previous jump into the pool on Scarlet Night) and the official unofficial group cruise was born.</image:caption>

With this being an unofficial official group cruise, there won’t be an official program of group activities, so unlike our yet to be announced 2025 Official Group Cruise, you don’t need to book through our preferred travel agent but there are some big advantages to doing so such as being able to link bookings easier and such.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - 7 Reasons Why We Love A Cruise Drinks Package - 1. The ability to pre-purchase</image:title>
<image:caption>It’s no secret we love drinking cocktails and fancy coffees and sometimes a combination of the two. So by purchasing a cruise drinks package, our hot and cold beverages are covered before we step foot on the ship. It means everything is done before we get on, and we can just get on with enjoying the cruise from the start.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - 7 Reasons Why We Love A Cruise Drinks Package - 2. We get to try something new</image:title>
<image:caption>We love a cruise drinks package allows us to try something new and work our way through the cocktail menu of signature bars. However, we must admit Mark is much more focused on trying a different cocktail every night while I’ll tend to find a drink, I like and then keep coming back to it again and again. On Cunard in the Commodore Club, this was the three Queens Negroni, but I am rather partial to a Negroni.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - 7 Reasons Why We Love A Cruise Drinks Package</image:title>
<image:caption>Wine By The Bottle or wine by the glass. We don’t have to worry which pricey wine to buy. We were recently on a ship without a drinks package, and the Somalia was not impressed with our first wine choice, and said if you are wanting something at that price point, I suggest this one pointed severely at the wine menu, which, of course we ordered, and we must admit it was quite nice, but if we have been on the drinks package, Mark would’ve ordered something light to go with his seafood and i would have ordered a lovely red to go with my venison, then to finish a sweet dessert wine mark and a glass of port for me which only happens when we are on a drinks package. Whereas with a bottle of wine we are compelled to finish it and there’s no deviation.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - 7 Reasons Why We Love A Cruise Drinks Package - 5. Keeping and staying hydrated:</image:title>
<image:caption>we always make sure the drinks package covers sparkling water, as we find it much more in the vacation spirit than the usual tapwater and much more refreshing. It also means we’ll get a bottle to go with dinner, meaning we can go hard, then soft with drinks and prelong our night out. Once we are ready for bed, will then pick up a bottle from the nearest bar, usually near the theatre, and take it back to the room.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - 7 Reasons Why We Love A Cruise Drinks Package - 6. Breakfast pick me ups</image:title>
<image:caption>there’s nothing like a mimosa in the morning to put you in the holiday/vacation spirit. It just seems so fancy to enjoy a Bucks fizz or bloody Mary when served alongside smoked salmon. So, it’s even better when these cheeky drinks are covered by the cruise drinks package.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/64d10b30cf977f5e47abe894/47b93882-f276-4eef-bdf5-ffdefe5fdf9a/IMG_0043.JPEG</image:loc>
<image:title>Blog - 7 Reasons Why We Love A Cruise Drinks Package - 7. Peace of mind</image:title>
<image:caption>We really don’t like our final bill as it means it’s the end of the cruise and we need to get off the ship, but with a drink package, at least we know all the drinks within the package are covered. Now this does not mean we don’t check to see if we got good value for money, but the peace of mind knowing it’s all been taken care of, helps us have a better cruise, as we are not worrying about a looming drinks bill. Instead we are enjoying every single drink choice we make - even if we don’t like the taste. Now we must say that not all drinks packages are created equal, that’s why if we don’t feel we got good value, the next time we sail on that particular cruise line, we will pay as we go and hope our feedback helps you and the cruise line know whether it’s worth it. Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - What To Wear On A Cunard Cruise - What to pack for a Cunard cruise.</image:title>
<image:caption>Cunard’s what to pack section on its website clearly states “that shorts and T-shirts are perfectly acceptable to wear during the day”. Which is great especially if you’re going on a lovely warm cruise. However, the use of perfectly acceptable is one of the reasons why Cunard can be seen as stuffy and difficult to dress for cruise line. Imagine if you said to an elderly relative, is it okay if I wear shorts and T-shirt to the family barbecue and they replied that is perfectly acceptable. You might get the feeling your elderly relative really wanted you to dress up/put on a jacket. However, Cunard love shorts and T-shirts during the day. Keeping it casual on Cunard. Now, we’re not recommending you wear the old Misshapen shorts and T-shirts you like to potter about in the garden in, but a crisp and cute outfit you’d wear to a pub garden lunch or a farmers market, is perfect for on board. By the pool, you’ll see lots of people in modern swimwear, not Victorian pantaloon sets, but like the majority of other cruise lines, you will need to put clothes on in order to go inside and grab lunch or visit another venue. Simply put, it's cruise casual during the day, with guests of all ages, looking like they are on vacation and not extras in a ship related period drama, starring Kate Winslet. What we’ve seen people wearing during the day As well as lots of culottes, we’ve seen younger cruisers, go the full White Lotus in floaty caftans and unbuttoned linen white shirts, but whatever the age range, everyone looks to be on a cruise holiday.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - The Joy of Repositioning - 1. The ship is the star</image:title>
<image:caption>With a repositioning cruise, you can really get to know and appreciate the ship. On huge modern cruise ships, there can be more bars and restaurants than the number of nights you’re onboard, therefore unless you really love eating in the main dining room, you’ll need to be really selective when planning your alternative/speciality dining, cocktail hour and evening entertainment. With a repositioning cruise, we find you can suss out which bars and restaurants you really want to try, especially as a number of speciality dining venues will also be open for lunch (usually at a cheaper rate per person than dinner) due to the number of days you are at sea...and there can be quite a few sea days.</image:caption>

<image:caption>We’ve been costing a number of newly built ships to try in 2024/25, however we've found inaugural cruise seasons are very pricey to due to the shiny new ship factor. With a repositioning cruise, the pricing can be a lot less scary, plus you get to take full advantage of both the exciting and relaxing parts of the ship due to the length of cruise and number of sea days.</image:caption>

<image:caption>When taking a repositioning cruise, we’ve often attended a number of enrichment classes. From painting or cooking, to sushi making and mixology, there’s usually a small surcharge for the class when equipment or supplies are required. However, we do feel to get value for money, as we've found the cruise line will usually serve complimentary alcoholic drinks during the session, and Linzi has definitely drunk more than the cost of the enrichment class in sommelier selected fancy wine, although her chicken gyozq weren't the most attractive.</image:caption>
